SS316 Stainless Steel Test Wands for Metal Detectors
SS316 Stainless Steel Test Wands for Metal Detector Verification
A certified AISI 316 stainless steel sphere in a rigid, colour-coded rod. Grade 316 contains molybdenum for corrosion resistance, which is exactly why it is used for wet, salty and washdown environments — and why it is even less visible to a metal detector than 304. Where a specification calls for 316, this is the wand that has to be used.
Contaminant type: Stainless Steel 316 (molybdenum-alloyed austenitic, very low detectability). Available in sphere diameters from 1.0 mm to 12.0 mm in 0.5 mm steps.
Key features
- AISI 316 sphere for plants specified in molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel
- The lowest-detectability contaminant of the standard test set
- Colour-coded and marked with grade and sphere diameter
- Individually numbered for certificate traceability during audits
- Rigid wand format for belt, tunnel and reject-point verification
- 23 sphere sizes from 1.0 mm to 12.0 mm
When to verify with SS316 rather than SS304
Lines handling brine, marinades, dairy, seafood and other corrosive or high-moisture products are usually built in 316, so any stainless fragment entering the product is likely to be 316 rather than 304. Verifying with the same grade the equipment is made from is what makes the check meaningful, and a number of retailer specifications now require it explicitly. In practice the SS316 wand is used in the same routine as the ferrous and non-ferrous pieces — at start-up, at shift change and after any product or setting change — with the result logged as the governing sensitivity figure for the line.
Also available in Ferrous, Non-Ferrous and SS304 as test wands, or as a SS316 flexible test wand and a SS316 test ball. Browse the full range of certified metal detector test pieces.
Certificate included
Every Detectronic test piece in this range is supplied with its corresponding traceability certificate. The certificate records the material, the test sphere size and a unique certificate number, so the physical test piece you hold can always be matched to its documentation.
The unique certificate number is marked on the test piece itself, which is what makes the link between the piece and its paperwork defensible during an audit or a customer inspection.
