Ferrous Flexible Test Wands for Metal Detectors
Ferrous Flexible Test Wands for Metal Detector Verification
The same certified ferrous test sphere as the rigid wand, but carried in a flexible strip that bends. That matters wherever a straight rod cannot reach the point you actually need to test: inside a pipeline, through a free-fall chute, curved around a pack, or taped to the product so the sphere travels through the aperture exactly where the product does.
Contaminant type: Ferrous (magnetic iron and carbon steel). Available in sphere diameters from 1.0 mm to 12.0 mm — in 0.5 mm steps up to 10.0 mm, plus 11.0 mm and 12.0 mm.
Key features
- Flexible carrier that bends around product, packs and pipe bends
- Magnetic ferrous sphere — the baseline contaminant type
- Can be placed at the centre of the aperture, where detector sensitivity is lowest
- Colour-coded and marked with contaminant type and sphere diameter
- Uniquely numbered and traceable to its certificate
- 21 sphere sizes from 1.0 mm to 12.0 mm
Where a flexible wand works and a rigid one does not
Metal detector sensitivity is not uniform across the aperture, and the weakest point is usually the geometric centre. A flexible ferrous wand can be positioned there — inside a bag, between layers of product, or fed through a pipe — so the check reflects the worst case rather than the easiest. Food processors use flexible pieces for pipeline systems pumping viscous product, for free-fall detectors handling powders and granulates, and for large or awkwardly shaped packs where taping a rigid rod to the outside would not represent a realistic contamination path.
Also available in Non-Ferrous, SS304 and SS316 as flexible test wands, or as a Ferrous test wand and a Ferrous test ball. Browse the full range of certified metal detector test pieces.
Certificate included
Every Detectronic test piece in this range is supplied with its corresponding traceability certificate. The certificate records the material, the test sphere size and a unique certificate number, so the physical test piece you hold can always be matched to its documentation.
The unique certificate number is marked on the test piece itself, which is what makes the link between the piece and its paperwork defensible during an audit or a customer inspection.

Frequently asked questions
When will I receive my order?
Stocked products are dispatched within 24 hours on working days. Typical delivery is 1–3 working days within the EU and 2–5 working days internationally. Delivery times may vary depending on destination, carrier and customs clearance.
Does my test piece include a certificate?
Yes. Relevant Detectronic test pieces are supplied with their corresponding traceability certificate, allowing the test piece to be linked to its documentation via its unique certificate number.
Which sphere size should I order?
The sphere size you verify with is normally set by your own HACCP plan, customer specification or detector sensitivity assessment. This product is available from 1.0 mm to 12.0 mm in 0.5 mm steps. If you are not sure which size applies to your line, contact us and we will help.
Are prices shown with or without VAT?
